Clan President
Lt. Colonel Robert S. Miller, USAF (Ret.) MBA, GMTJ, GOTJ
Pursuant to a decade sponsoring Clan Kerr/Carr activities in Central Florida and the Southeast United States (1993-2014), in 2011, Colonel Miller was asked to form a Clan Kerr/Carr of the United States and North America. The new Clan organization came into being in March 2014. He is the husband of Margaret Gannon Carr, a descendant of John Kerr of Teviotdale from the early 18th century, and also serves as the Clan Historian.
His military service with the U.S. Air Force included tours of duty with the Strategic Air Command, the Technical Applications Center, the Air Force Intelligence Service, the Attaché System, and the Defense Intelligence Agency, all included long postings to foreign locations. He is a graduate of the Ballistic Missile school, Squadron Officers School, National Defense University, U.S. Army Intelligence School, and several other military training institutions. His military decorations include numerous medals for Meritorious Service, Commendation Medals, Humanitarian Service, Vietnam Service, Vietnam Campaign, the Presidential Unit citation, and several outstanding organizational unit citations.
In retirement he served for twelve years as a public official in central Florida through 2008. For two decades now he has been President of a non-profit foundation supporting chemical weapons research among victims of conflict in the third world. His associations with volunteer organizations include the Saint Andrews Society, Scottish Highland Games Committees, a Military Knights Templar, a Papal Knight Commander with Star in the Equestrian Order of Saint Gregory the Great, the Institutes of Strategic Studies in London and of Pakistan, Air Force Association, and DIA Intelligence Order of the Owl. Colonel Miller is a published author with four books and scores of conference papers and reports to his credit.

Margaret Carr Miller, GOTJ, DAR #836478
Born in Syracuse, New York, near the James Kerr home on Carr’s Cove in Union Springs, Margo has been involved with the Clan since its inception. Her father is Harlan B. “Gotch” Carr, and their proud Carr/Kerr heritage predates the American Revolution, starting with the arrival in New Hampshire of John Kerr of Teviotdale in the early 1700s. John Kerr’s son, James, served in the American Revolution in the New York 1st Infantry, was captured and spent two years as a prisoner of war in a British prison in Montreal, Canada.
Margo has live abroad most of her adult life, living in places like Athens, Teheran and Nicosia in Cyprus. Upon return to the US, she became the lead for International Network Relations for AAA until retirement. Her DAR lineage is the basic documentation for establishing the line of the Kerrs that emigrated to New Hampshire and became the Carrs that settled on the east shore of Cayuga Lake in Union Springs at the end of the 18th Century.
Margo belongs to many civic and social organization, including a Military Templar Order, the Daughters of the American Revolution and as a member and former board member in the Saint Andrews Society of Central Florida
Clan Treasurer and Webmaster
Robert Gordon Shepard, Jr MBA, PMP, KCTJ
Born in Syracuse, New York, near the James Kerr home on Carr’s Cove in Union Springs, Bob joined the Air Force and served in law enforcement for four years starting at the end of the Viet Nam conflict. He spent the next 25 years working in Upstate New York, Vermont, Georgia and Florida in Information Technology before continuing his career as an IT Program Manager in Colorado, where he has resided for the last 2 and a half years.
Both sides of Bob’s family are of Scottish descent. His mother is Nancy Kelley Carr, and their proud Carr/Kerr heritage predates the American Revolution, starting with the arrival in New Hampshire of John Kerr of Teviotdale in the early 1700s. John Kerr’s son, James, served in the American Revolution in the New York 1st Infantry, was captured and spent two years as a prisoner of war in a British prison in Montreal, Canada. He is now working towards membership in the Sons of the American Revolution.
Bob serves as the Clan Webmaster and is a member of several prestigious organizations. He is a member of the Saint Andrews Society in Colorado and in Central Florida, a Military Templar Order, and is a certified alpine ski instructor with the Professional Ski Instructors of America, skiing out of the Keystone (CO) Ski and Ride School.
He and his wife Bonnie live in the Denver area where they enjoy boat cruising, skiing, hiking and golf and have traveled extensively over the years in Scotland, Ireland, Central America and Europe.

Bradley Richard Miller, KTJ
Born in Papillion, Nebraska, his Karr/Kerr heritage of 270 years predates the American Revolution in which his bloodline participated and became prisoner of war. Five of his Carr line served with Union forces in the Civil War, Mexican War, and World War One, while others who served more recently became a famous Air Force Ace, while others served in the Vietnam conflict.
After receiving an engineering degree in Pennsylvania, Brad has developed recognized subject matter expertise in underground utility construction with the unique geologic and soil conditions found in the State of Florida. He is a member of the Saint Andrews Society in Central Florida and a Military Templar Order. Brad, his lovely wife Liz and their son and daughter reside near Wellington, Florida. Appointed in 2018, Dennis is a retired “rocket scientist”! Seriously, he retired from NASA as a research engineer on the Mars Mission project. An ordained Baptist minister, Dennis is a chaplain in a Military Templar Order.
